Your soil analysis may be less critical than an analysis of the coal ash. the soil analysis should tell you what you lack in the soil. The analysis of the coal ash will tell you what you are adding back. both are important. My experience with the college at Lubbock is that they are weak in evaluating the trace elements. I'm not sure about in TX but down here in FL I am currently pursuing a 2 yr degree in Radiography tech, and my friend is going for dental hygiene. Something you could check into. Depending on what you like or think you'd like to do in the medical field.

When you say medical field, are you talking about working with patients in some way? If not, try an electrical engineering degree. Companies like Siemens, GE, and Toshiba have people going in and repairing capital medical equipment like MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Radiography units. Great pay involved, look it up on their job sites. Also, check into Biotech degrees, they also pay very well.

Midlothian,TX. But it's a couple hours away from Ft. Worth. But Midlothian has the one of the best school districts in the state. I live right outside the perimeter of Midlothian, not a lot of cars going by. One down side, Last Year, this one man that was delivering newspapers for Waxachie and asked me asking that I don't like sharing aloud. They told him to find a new route. But from one night, It spread their the WHOLE town by the end of day break the next day. Moral or the story... News travels fast.

Lubbock is a small city- population 200,000. There are two large hospitals here-UMC/Texas Tech Health Sciences Center & Covenant, and a few small ones. Right now there aren't any rules banning Pitt Bulls. However within city limits you can only have 3 dogs.

I have a mass on my neck. I went to Premier Health Clinic on 50th Street in Lubbock,TX. They did some lab work and ordered a sonogram of the mass at Wellness Center. I went there last Monday and had the test done. I waited 3 days to give them times to get the results then I called. I have called everyday repeated trying to get the results, or an appointment or something. Most of the time it is just an answering machine. I leave several messages every day. When I get a person on the phone they promise to look into it and call me back but they never do. I have asked for an appointment but the receptionist says they are completely booked up. Even after I explain my situation. I paid cash for these test and I just want to get the results and get referred to a specialist. So I really don't want to go to another doctor and start from square one and pay for the tests all over again. What can I do? I am so frustrated and I need help. You are right! I couldn't go down there. My husband went down there and they gave him everything. Thanks. I am going to another doctor with those result those. I cannot trust Premier Health anymore. You are right! your mistake is asking for information over the phone, they cannot give it to you. what you have to do is go in person and request a copy of the results, by law they have to give it to you, tho they may charge you for making the copy. Private patient information cannot be given out over the phone.

Lubbock. I still have post traumatic Stress. Actually I lived in Levelland for two years but I worked in Lubbuck. MY in laws still live there in a rural area on the outskirts out past East 4th street. What do you want to know? How the when the oil wells were capped people lost jobs in record numbers? Or How NAFTA devastated the area in the 90's and the closing of Reese Airforce base made it worse. It is an area that has high unemployment. Methamphetamine use is high. It is run By Biker gang the Hells Angels don't dare take on. Identity theft and hot check writing are rife in the West texas Area. It is like a death pall to drive past the boarded up windows in storefronts and wonder to my self how families get along there. Every spring it is tornado season and every Cotton harvest time no one can breathe. The dust storms are always fun. If it was bad enough I could sit in my house, with all of my doors and windows closed and still taste the dust in my mouth. You can see the storms coming your way as it is the South Plains. Dust storms are a reddish brown. During Tornado Season, you watch the Doppler radar and storm warnings. Tornado weather appears in black. Maybe things have gotten better since I left but I never believe the media or internet postings. When I left in 1999. there was a near 1 in four people unemployed. But trust me, the devastation Lubbock went through is not magically fixed in the space of ten years. I always tell anyone, if there is a hells half acre on Gods Green Earth it is in West Texas.

You will be in such shock coming from Seattle that I don't recommend it. Lubbock is a barren and dry land of nothingness. It smells bad because of the lack of environmental standards on industry in Texas. You'll be 400 miles from nothing. It's very hot 8 months out of the year and cold in the winter. Cotton and cattle are king in that part of Texas. There is no culture and fine dining consists of chicken fried steak, nothing wrong with CFS, but Seattle is a wonderland of farmers markets, fresh fish, vegetables and excellent restaurants. Did I mention the lack of trees and water in West Texas? A large portion of the town is dirt-poor. Going to a fundamentalist Southern Baptist Church will be expected of you or else you might not ever advance in your job. You also better be a right-wing Republican and pro-gun.

If you have a good job opportunity, you might consider moving to Lubbock. At least fly down for a visit instead of taking someone else's opinion. Honestly, Lubbock is not my favorite town in West Texas, but it's not even close to as bad as described above. Yes, Lubbock did get hit hard when the oil went south, but so did every other West Texas town. I have lived around Lubbock my whole life, I'm 23, and have never had a run in with the Hells Angels. Yes, in fact, the wind does blow about 60 miles an hour sometimes and it does stir up the cotton fields around, but you don't actually taste the dust in the air very often, especially from inside of your house. I'm not sure of the unemployment rate there, but I find it hard to believe that it is any higher than any other town at this time. There is plenty of shopping and a popular West Texas Lake. There is also a pretty good night life, nothing probably compared to Seattle, but there is something to do at least everynight. During the spring and summer there are tons of concerts that go on in Lubbock from Texas or Red Dirt Country to Rock. All in all, there are ups and downs of living in Lubbock, but you will only be able to determine that by taking a trip down there to take a look.

Don't let crowds be your deciding factor unless you don't have a room already booked. My parents always eliminated options because of fear of crowds and we missed out on a lot of fun things. I suspect my mom had some issues, maybe even a phobia of crowds, but hey, for a parade, crowds make it much more exciting!

Try Lubbock, most of the students will be gone, and it is not as Hot as it will be in a few weeks. San Antonio will be so full of tourist you will not be able to find a seat near the river-walk or get up to the cages in the Zoo. Where ever you go, have a blast.

Depends on what you like and what you are used to. Lubbock is smack dab in the middle of the flat TX panhandle and tornado alley with nothing in the way of scenery! It's a cotton farming community, for the most part, and is cold as hell in the winter, and the town is pretty much centered around the school. It's a very conservative town, in the middle of the bible belt, and in a dry county. (or it used to be anyway). The one positive thing about Lubbock is the people - they are very friendly and very helpful.

Lubbock is kind of boring but it's all about what you make it. There are things to do but as the other person who answered said, most things are centered around the university. There are clubs, bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and there is a mall. It is a really conservative town and has that small-town feel but with some of the resources of a big city. I'm not sure if I would recommend this move because it all depends on the type of person that you are.

I work at a golf club in PA for $2.83/hour. I know other golf clubs give $3.83/hour. We have a lot of functions (with alcohol!) and on average, I make around $70. It really depends on the day. One day I make $120 and the next I can make $20. That's the beauty of the waitress business! I am sure that if you work at a chain/franchise, you will be making a lot more. But I prefer where I am because it isn't as stressful and the money is still good! Good luck!

My daughter would be in kindergarden when we move to Lubbock and I'm worried about her adapting in a much bigger school and different school environment (she will be leaving preschool/headstart). I'm used to the teachers working well with the students and actually enjoying and loving their jobs and doing right by the kids. I mean I could really trust them and really never had a problem with anything. I know my baby girl is growing up and I'm not ready for her too, but as it should be, her school environment is very important to me. Most of the schools in L.I.S.D. are pretty good about working well with students. One thing I have noticed is that the schools in some neighborhoods don't seem to teach as much material, not preparing them for advanced classes when they reach middle school and high school. AWWW, I miss Lubbock!! I just moved from there in November. There IS a place like that. Its a Sears Warehouse where they keep overstock and damaged goods. If I remember correctly its one the Highway towards wollforth, on the right. I am sure if you asked Sears they could give you better directions! P.S. If you are ever drinking at Chips, drink a beer for me!
