Which school should I go to? UT austin vs texas a&m vs Texas tech?
I am in top 10% and i cant decide which college is best for me. I plan to pursue a professional degree in pharmacy. i know austin has a good program. in texas tech the first year is free. but my sister says lubbock is depressing compared to austin. texas a&m has way lower gpa requirements. idk why? texas tech and texas a&m has high std affected students. I am hard working but laid back kinda nerd. And i know that austins pharmacy program is very competetive compared to a&m and tech thanks in advanced i meant that freshman year for income below 40,000 is free( red raider guarantee)

Go with UT or Texas A&M. TAMU (as much as I hate to admit it being a Baylor grad and hard core Baylor fan) is a good school, so don't worry too much about their lower GPA requirements too much. Tech is just... bleh. I imagine they probably have a REASON (*ahem*) for offering a free first year. College Station would at least put you near within decent range of several good cities (Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas-Ft. Worth). My strongest recommendation is for UT, especially since you are in the top 10%.

You are very confused when it comes to knowing these schools... so is the first answerer. Texas Tech and Texas A&M have completely average STD rates. That is an absolute rumor. All 3 schools are great, apply to all 3 and then make a choice. I don't think you would get a free year of pharmacy school at Tech unless top 10% gets a scholarship or something... Alright I see the Red Raider guarantee. I'm not going to say which school to go to because all 3 are great schools, but don't let misinformed people like the one above tell you thinks like Tech is "Blehhh" and has a high STD rate and a bunch of other crap because it is a great university that is rising in reputation rapidly. About Check Engine light while driving only
Check Engine light while driving only?
Drove to Lubbock Tx from Odessa TX ( 100 miles ) and while driving for a alittle ( 70 mph ) while the check engine light came on but when i got back into town and dropped speeds ( 45mph etc ) the light went off- happened twice this wknd- when i got to LBB and got back to odessa- any ideas- oxygen sensor, maybe- just did a recent tuneup on car-plugs/wires- antifreeze-oil change-and new vacuum hose ( had a small leak )-- i know put it on the machine and it will tell you BUT the ck engine light isnt on and the car works just fine.....itchin my head....yes i know take it in...but question is, what do you think it could be...thank you for reading my question : ) 1994 Nissian Atlima

Could be many things causing this, get it diagnosed, not code read.

check codes

the only way to know is to have the code(s) read. even if its out now, whatever the code was would be stored in history codes.reading the code will tell you what sensor is being effected. to diagnose it is to pinpoint it then fix it.

Could be a lot of things. O2 and catalytic converter are not bad guesses I suppose. I'd more suspect a problem with the fuel tank venting system, or a temp sensor going marginal. I guess that doesn't help much. The code is still stored even if te light is out, at least for a while. You can get it read for free at Autozone or Midas. DON'T just change whatever the code says is wrong. It just tells you the area or circuit that needs checking. It just narrows the search down for you.

Do you have an auto zone parts store near you?If you do they read the codes for free.That will tell you the fault code and you maybe can fix it yourself.

Did you get gas before the light came on..A loose fitting gas cap will cause your check engine light to come on as well...Take it to Advance Auto the can check it for you for free....Or Autozone as well....

could be a number of things but with out diagnostic equipment hooked up to your car its only best guess,but check the air cleaner tube(black tube that engine get fresh air from)or check something that may have been left loose or not connected,unfortunately the repair of automobiles is not a guessing game you can only do so much then you have to turn it over to the pros.

About I need help with guitar care...
I need help with guitar care...?
I just got a Luna Trinity Dreadnought for Christmas and it is acoustic/electric and has a built in tuner... the case has a hygrometer and a thermometer in it. How can I keep it healthily humid without hurting the electronics? I read about the dampit but I just don't know. I need something that will either fit in the sound hole of my guitar (in the shape of the trinity insignia) or can be placed in my case without harming the fabric. I need HELP! I don't want my baby to get ruined. PLEASE give me advice. I live in Lubbock, Texas. I don't know how the local climate works into it but it seems like it would. PLEASE HELP!

About I joined the Air Force and I'm in DEP. I'm also married and concerned about how that works with tech school.
I joined the Air Force and I'm in DEP. I'm also married and concerned about how that works with tech school.
I joined the USAF and got a job as "Missle and Space elec. maintance" I'm also married and my concern is what comes after BMT. I know my tech school starts in Lackland for 10-12 weeks. My wife will be waiting out BMT in Lubbock, TX which is only a 7 hour drive away. She would like to move to San Antonio a few days before my Graduation, (assuming she will need to live there durring my tech school to be near me. Does this sound like a good plan or is there somethings I should understand. Will we be aloud to live together? If so is it up to us, (or her) to find an apartment close to base or are you given temp base housing? Also how long is the norm. once I start tech school before I'll be allowed to move in with her? Also do we need to find a furnished apt. or will the AF move our furniture there? My last question is when I move to my 2nd tech school at vandenburg (12-16 weeks) do I get time off to move her there or is she gonna be on her own? Please help as this is becoming a major prob.

Yes, after BMT is tech school. You may have to write a letter of hardship or at least make the request ASAP to have her live with you (which will be at a TLF room for families or the authorization to live off-base at your cost). Immediately discuss this with your TI or MPF representative. Best of luck, but don't forget, it'll all be over with and you will be at your first permanent duty base

Congrats on being in the DEP, Trainee! Okay, problem time. Your first tech school is a TDY (temporary duty) of 10-12 weeks, the next is 12-16 weeks. The Air Force won't pay to move you or your stuff to either school. They WILL, however, pay you a basic allowance for housing (BAH) so she can pay rent wherever she lives. Something you might want to consider: If she's able to stay with a relative while you tough out basic and tech school, you guys could bank that housing allowance while you are in technical training. You will have to get used to family separations at some point, and basic and tech school are better handled without a nearby spouse. Then when you get assigned somewhere as a permanent party airman, you'll have 5-6 months worth of BAH in the bank. They will ALSO at that time pay to ship your belongings from where they are now to your new duty station. Six months BAH is not a bad thing to have when you're starting up a household in a new place, what with first and last months' rent, etc. You might also get into base housing, and just have a nest egg. Most important thing last: Your RECRUITER needs to be telling you all this. His job doesn't end when you become a DEP member. Good luck! The Artist Formerly Known as MSgt Bill

First take a deep breath lol. My daughter and her husband just did this pretty much in the same places as you at the first of the year. Make sure YOU talk to your co. Get names, numbers, places of whom you need to talk to and do it ASAP. My daughter got stuck living w/us for 2 months because they didn't talk to the right people soon enough. I know it takes a year to get your "credit card" that will help w/your moving expenses etc. as they just got there's last week. He's been in the Air Force now since Feb. Make sure everybody you talk to knows YOUR MARRIED. My daughter/son in law found out after they tried to move her to Washington that the Air Force did not even know they were married...they'd been married for over a year by then. just a little fyi for ya.
